Russian government allows imports of some fruit from Turkey

MOSCOW, Oct 11 (PRIME) -- The Russian government has signed a ruling allowing imports of oranges, tangerines, apricots, peaches, plums and blackthorn from Turkey, as seen by PRIME in the ruling on Tuesday.

But imports of grapes, apples, pears, strawberry, tomatoes and some other fruit and vegetables are still prohibited.

Russia banned imports of some fruit and vegetables from Turkey from January 1 as part of retaliatory measures after Ankara downed a Su-24 jet in November 2015.

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian government decided to allow imports of some Turkish agricultural products – so-called stone and citrus fruits, and the decision is mutually beneficial as the Russian agricultural sector does not produce such products.
